How Flexi works

    Choose your plan

    The Flexi membership is based on how much waste you generate - chat with our team to get a free waste audit and we can suggest the right plan for you.

  • Step 2

    Get your kit

    After you sign up, we'll send your refillable bags, separation bins and merch kit. We'll also train your team to start recycling the Sustainable Salons way.

  • Step 3

    Start recycling

    Fill up your refillable bags with hair, metals, paper, plastics and chemicals. When a bag is full, use our app to have it collected from your door.

  • Step 4

    Keep recycling

    Based on your plan, we'll send out more refillable bags on a set frequency. If you need more or less bags, you can adjust your membership to suit.

      Pricing examples

      • Barber

        200 fades per week

        Barbers seeing ~200 clients per week generate about 40L of waste per week (normally hair, paper and plastics). To recycle this amount of waste, we'd send 4x 160L refillable bags every 16 weeks at a price of $100/week (incl. GST). 

      • Groomer

        150 grooms per week

        Groomers seeing ~150 clients per week generate about 30L of waste per week (normally fur, paper, plastics and chemicals). To recycle this amount of waste, we'd send 4x 160L refillable bags every 20 weeks at a price of $75/week (incl. GST).

      FAQs

      Yes, we have four different sizes of bins (small, medium, large and stackable), and our team will work with you to ensure that our bins fit your space.

      The Flexi membership has a one-time set-up fee of $348 (incl. GST) and an ongoing weekly membership fee which starts at $75/week (incl. GST). The set-up fee gets you in-salon separation bins, return bags and a merch kit to promote your new membership. The weekly fee is based on how much recycling you need based on your size of business.

      Over the last 10 years, our 1,500+ Sustainable Salons members have shown that the average amount of recyclables generated by a salon service is 1.7L (a little less than a 2L milk bottle!) and a barber or groomer is about 0.2L (about the size of a slim soda can). Our friendly team will help you work out the best plan for your size business based on how many clients you see per week.

      You can change your Flexi membership at any time. If you need to recycle more, we can increase your membership, and if you don't need to recycle as much, we can reduce it.

      The Flexi membership is perfect for hair salons with 1-3 staff, barbershops with 2-3 staff, or pet groomers with 2-3 staff.

      With our quick & easy set-up, you can be up and recycling in just 2 weeks of saying yes!

      We currently service metro & regional salons all across Australia and New Zealand. If you’re unsure whether Sustainable Salons is available in your area, chat with our team.

      No need to worry about washing all materials before recycling with Sustainable Salons! We have an advanced resource recovery process that can handle materials without requiring pre-washing. Please note, however, that pet fur does need to be clean, free of fleas, not matted or covered in poo.
