We’re excited to announce we’ve partnered with Hair Festival, the Australian hairdressing industry’s newest major event destination, to showcase sustainable practices, insight and education across its two-day offering.

Here’s what we’ll be doing to bring this to life!

We’re implementing our successful coffee-cup collection model across the Marketplace floor to minimise the impact of our industry’s caffeine habit.

Find a Sustainable Salons Coffee-cup Recycling Bin at the Marketplace Cafe and near the Sustainable Salons stand.

This year, we’re holding our biggest comp ever! We’re offering our members the opportunity to win a Fonzarelli Arthur 2+ in Moon Blue (see below).

How to Enter:

1. Visit the Sustainable Salons stand at Hair Festival – Stand 21*
2. Guess how many ponytails there are in the container
3. Enter your guess for your chance to win!

Exhibitors will have the opportunity to implement the Sustainable Salons materials separation system on their stand. Eco-conscious brands can choose to have their paper, plastics, metals and hair collected by Sustainable Salons from their stand throughout the event, and proudly promote their commitment, too.

In an industry-first, Hair Festival will showcase H2Cuts – a mobile hair salon powered by 100% renewable hydrogen.

An initiative of the NSW Department of Primary Industries in partnership with Sustainable Salons and The Australian Hairdressing Council, the vehicle is touring regional NSW until October 2022, and will be onsite at Hair Festival – its only metro appearance – offering FREE zero-emission haircuts to visitors!

Keen to help us staff this amazing hydrogen-powered salon? It’s a $500 paid gig, so it’s first-in-best-dressed.

Sustainable Salons is a unique social enterprise that specialises in collecting up to 95% of the salon bin and redirecting all material for reuse, recycling, and repurposing solutions.

The program rewards the salon’s sustainability commitment, while 100% of the recycling proceeds are donated to charitable organisations OzHarvest and KiwiHarvest to help feed those in need.
